the next morning we awoke to an early departure.
the schedule dictated we leave by 11:00.
but we were so eager, we were on the road by 9:00...
i drew our total journey on this map:
finally we arrived at our final destination,
we were greeted with mai tais, leis, and pineapple.
we were all so excited for our two days of total luxury...
and how better to kick that off, than with a drink in a coconut!?
thanks to our super early arrival, our rooms weren't ready.
but did that stop us? of course not!
we snatched our swimsuits from our bags and ran to the lobby restroom to change.
the boys grabbed their boards.
it was the perfect day.
and i was really enjoying my lei.
i ordered a green tea mojito.
if you are ever at a place that has green tea mojitos, go ahead and order one.
we caught some rays,
and waited for our rooms.
at last we arrived in our rooms,
where we were greeted by a welcome note and a bottle of champagne!
(also a massage, birthday gifted by my aunt and uncle- to whom i say, "thank you!")
thanks, the four seasons!
once the sun began to set,
we met for drinks at the beach tree lounge.
then it was off to dinner at pahu i'a restaurant.
the food was to die for,
and in celebration of patrick and shannon's actual anniversary day,
we got this lovely dessert!
the next day, andrew and i got breakfast at pahu i'a,
and their breakfast is very possibly the best in the world.
this bloody mary (warning: not the same as the bottomless ones included on the buffet!)
was made with all organic ingredients, black sea salt, and a splash of heaven.
to eat, i had the loco moco, which words cannot do justice.
i will say, however, that it was accompanied with lobster gravy. (what?!) oh yes.
as it was our last full day on the big island,
we got the most out of it, by hitting the swim up pool bar early.
remember those hawaiian chili peppers?
(down there on the left)
the boys brought them to our bartender,
and together they concocted a spicy beverage.
i even loved it, and i am not even a fraction of the spice lover these men are.
the day was a smidgen cloudy, but we still managed a tan.
that afternoon we met on patrick and shannon's ocean view balcony.
patrick ordered a mai tai bar and we wasted no time whipping some up.
i am not a mai tai expert.
mine was only ok.
patrick's was beautiful.
after mai tai hour at home,
we hit up mai tai hour at the kona inn!
this place has a fantastic view of the sunset,
and famous mai tais.
they are, however, made with bacardi 151, so be careful!
after two each,
and a plate of calamari,
we moved on to huggos (a supposed "fine dining" restaurant in kona).
and we were full to the brim with rum and pineapple juice!
nooooooo mooooooore mai taiiiiiis.........
so how about tequila?
we decided this evening was going to be my "birthday"
since my actual birthday was only two days later.
and the only way to celebrate a birthday is with tequila shots.
however, when the bartender heard it was my "birthday,"
he insisted i have a drink on the house!
of course, that drink was....
a mai tai.
after a very large and overly filling dinner at huggos,
we walked around some shops.
shannon paused for a forrest gump photo-op.
it was a fantastic evening-
full of celebration!
even on leaving day, we managed to squeeze in some sun.
and we spent a little time exploring hualalai.
my ke'ohana friends may recognize this little guy!
from start to finish it was a perfect trip.
thank you, patrick and shannon, for bringing us along
on your amazing anniversary trip!
we love you!
